Doula Forum: Expansion of Doula Coverage, Creating Connection to Reframe the Maternal and Infant Mortality Rate in Erie County

A discussion is being held in the light of a new pilot program to expand Medicaid coverage of Doula services in Erie County. Doulas are non-medical birth coaches who assist women during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and post childbirth. Research shows that this support has positive effects the health outcomes of both mother and child, and could help lower maternal and infant mortality rates in New York State. The purpose of the event is to identify challenges and plans to overcome them, set forth a roadmap, and come together as a community in support of this program.

The meeting will be held on Friday, February 15th, from 9 – 11 am, at the Trinity Center on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo. To register for this event, please RSVP at their event page using the password “doula”
