January 23: Cultural Competency and Health Literacy Master Training Program

A Cultural Competency and Health Literacy Master Training Program will be offered through Suffolk Care Collaborative (a DSRIP PPS) to certify Master Trainers so that they can host training sessions in their regions. This is a master training course held Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at Suffolk Care Collaborative in Hauppauge, NY.

Interested parties must apply by January 5, 2018.

Achieving Community Integration Training Webinar

The Department of Health conducted a training session through Public Consulting group for provider staff members to share information on “Achieving Community Integration.” The training included an overview of the person-centered care foundations and planning as well as the LifeCourse framework. Dec. 2-3 Erie County DOH OASAS-Certified SBIRT Train the Trainer Course

December 2 & 3, 2017, 9:00am – 4:30PM Erie County Department of Health, Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) is hosting a Training of the Trainers course for Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT). SBIRT is an evidence-based practice used to identify, reduce, and prevent problematic use, abuse, and dependence on alcohol and illicit drugs. This event is intended for healthcare professionals who will be training their colleagues in medical offices and clinics. For more information regarding SBIRT visit this OASAS site. This is the ONLY SBIRT Training of the Trainers that ECDOH will be able to offer for a significant period of time.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify patients who misuse alcohol or other drugs using a standardized screening protocol
  • Describe the goals/processes of Brief Interventions(BI), Brief Negotiated Interviews (BNI), and Brief Treatments (BT).

Accreditation: The activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and Northeast & Carribean Addiction Technology Transfer Center (NeC-ATTC). The University of Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Nov. 8 Western New York Performing Provider Systems Community Conference
